So friends! You’ve heard about all the awesome stuff Microsoft have been doing in partnership with OpenAI in the world of generative artificial intelligence and more, impressing us with products like ChatGPT, Copilot and more? 👀

Well… I’m sure you’re also aware Copilot has now been in Power Apps for some environments for a little while now! Have you tested it out yet?

Get started with these 5 example prompts for building apps with natural language using the Power Platform 🚀 🤖

Collecting RSVPs for an upcoming event

So, in this first scenario I’d like to collect responses for an upcoming event my marketing team are setting up! Let’s have Copilot create me an app for this. I’m going to use the following prompt…

“I need to collect RSVPs for an upcoming marketing event. Can you make me an app?”

So here’s the first stage of the app creation. Here I’m asking Copilot to make me an app for collecting RSVPs and it’s started by giving me a Dataverse table to collect these in. Now very simply I’m going to select Create app and Copilot is going to build me a completely responsive application for collecting these responses.

Now not only has Copilot built me an app here which is completely responsive. I’ve also now got Copilot in the app building experience to continue to assist me in building my low code application using nothing but natural language. 🤯

Some more prompts

So, now that we’ve taken a look at the power of Copilot with a simple sentence of natural language, here’s 4 more prompts you can test out to build apps on Power Platform with nothing but natural language 😮

  • “Build me an application to track business opportunities for car sales.”
  • “Build me an application to track members of my swimming club and their current number of sessions attended.”
  • “I work as a nurse in a care home. I need to track who I gave medication to. Can you build me an app for tracking medication administrations?”
  • “I’m a blogger writing articles daily on Power Platform and other software engineering methods. Can you help me keep track of the blog post ideas I have with a simple application?”

Observations

Something really cool I spotted when testing out these different prompts is that you’ll notice the data in the table as sample data is contextually relevant to the prompt you gave Copilot. So in my blogging prompt for example, Copilot has given me sample data on ideas for blog posts including Power Platform and software engineering topics! Amazing! 🤩
